TS1186.01.29.a - 29 January, [1186-1187], Verona. - Pope Urban III confirms for master G[erardus] and the brethren of the Templars their possession of the churches at Pombal, Redinha and Ega, which they have - according to the bull of his predecessor Alexander [III] - in the area of the wood which donated the late king D. [recte Afonso I] of Portugal; declares that no bishop except the pope shall have any rights over these churches or shall demand any new or unjustified dues. TS1186.06.28 - 28 June, [1186-1187], Verona. - Pope Urban III to [master Gerardus and the brethren of the Templars]: after Alexander [III] has ordered at the [III] Lateran Council [1179] that churches and tenths which the Templars acquired in modern times (moderno tempore) from lay people have to be returned, the question has arisen what is meant by tempus modernum. The pope informs them that he has defined that this means the last ten years before the Council; confirms the Templars' possession of churches and tenths which they have received before that. - Inc. TS1186.06.30.a - 30 June, [1186-1187], Verona. - Pope Urban III to all archbishops, bishops, abbots, priors and other prelates: has been informed by appeal that the custom has arisen that barons and other noblemen demand a twentieth from everyone to finance their military conflicts. Since this also includes the Templars and their subjects and since the pope will not tolerate that they are forced to participate in wars against Christians, the pope orders that nothing like this is demalnded from the order and its subjects, under threat of excommunication and without the right to appeal. TS1186.09.22 - 22 September, [1186], Verona. - Pope Urban III confirms for archpresbiter Adrianus and the canons at Verona the determination of the borders between the parishes of St. Paolo and St. Vitale [in Verona] which had long been disputed between them and the Templars. The decision had been left over to the pope who ordered an investigation by the Cardinal Deacons Soff[redus] of St. Maria in Via lata and R[olandus] of St. Maria in Portico; now the pope corroborates the exactly defined borderlines. - Inc.
