TS1184.03.28 - 28 March, [1184], Veroli. - Pope Lucius III to all archbishops, bishops, abbots, priors, and prelates: orders to prohibit their curators under threat of anathema to demand any dues from the Templars or their subjects and to act with excommunication and interdict against perpetrators. They also shall punish their priests with suspension and excommunication if they celebrate masses in churches under interdict due to excesses against the Templars. Inc. TS1184.09.13 - 13 September, [1184-1185], Verona. - Pope Lucius III mandates bishop [Peter] of Arras to hear the parties and to decide in the conflict between the Templars (chevaliers du Temple) and the deans, canons, and chapters of Noyon, Péronne, Roye, and St.-Quentin concerning the annates of vacant or pawned prebends at these churches, without the right of appeal. TS1184.10.20 - 20 October, [1184-1185], Verona. - Pope Lucius III to all archbishops, bishops, abbots, priors, deans, and other prelates: orders to take the Templars under their protection and to punish those who act violently against them, take their properties, keep them from their inheritance or demand the tenth. Lay perpetrators shall be excommunicated, clerics suspended from their offices and prebends, until they have given compensation, with the possibility to appeal. Those under anathema because of their violent behaviour can only be absolved if they present letters of their bishops to the pope.
