TS1184.10.20 - 20 October, [1184-1185], Verona. - Pope Lucius III to all archbishops, bishops, abbots, priors, deans, and other prelates: orders to take the Templars under their protection and to punish those who act violently against them, take their properties, keep them from their inheritance or demand the tenth. Lay perpetrators shall be excommunicated, clerics suspended from their offices and prebends, until they have given compensation, with the possibility to appeal. Those under anathema because of their violent behaviour can only be absolved if they present letters of their bishops to the pope.
