[Canto 71]
1. try anin ina çaka purwwa rasikan/ pamankwakn i sabwatiɳ sabhuwana,
pjah irika çakabda rasa tanwinaça naranatha mar salahaça,
tuhun i kadiwyacittanira tan/ satrsnam asih i samasta bhuwana,
hatutur i tatwaniɳ dadin anitya punya juga taɳ ginöɳ pratidina.
2. kunaɳ i pahem narendra haji rama saɳ prabhu kalih sireki pinupul,
hibu haji saɳ rwa tansah awawanuja nrpati karwa saɳ priya tumut,
gumunita saɳ wruheɳ gumunadosaniɳ bala gumantyane san apatih,
linawelawön datan hana katrptiniɳ twas amanun/ wiyoga sumusuk.
3. nr- (123b) pati sumimpen iɳ naya tatan kagantyana kta sumantri mapatih,
ri taya nikaɳ gumantya yadi kewehanya tikanaɳ jagat pahalalun,
nhin ikan amatya sadwajara sarwwa karyya satate narendra pilihen,
pituhanen iɳ mucap kirakira wruheɳ parawiwoda tanpa nusara.
[Canto 72]
1. manka hinaniɳ pahömnira gupta,
pöhnyalap/ knaniran pawiweka,
wrddamantri pinilih ta san aryya,
atmaraja makanama pu tandi.
2. tansah indika narendra san aryya,
wira mandalika nama pu nala,
sadwasadu hitanigraha wijña,
mañcanagara manama tumenguɳ.
3. tusnin adiguna wira susatya,
nityasadipatinin bala mandon,
naɳ digantara manama riɳ dompo,
bhrasta denira sek anaɳlwan i çatru.
4. rwa ta wastuniɳ wangadisumantri,
astapadda hajo donika tan len,
mawwate sarusitiɳ wyawahara,
ndan makerina sumantry upapati.
5. saɳ pati dami tikaɳ yuwamantri,
saɳ hinatyan i dalm/ pura tansah,
mwaɳ patih tikan anama pu singha,
saksya riɳ sabha wkas naranatha.
6. an mankana titah naranatha,
trpti langeɳ hapagöh tikanaɳ ra- (124a) t,
satya bhakti nika mankin atambeh,
keçwaran haji dumeh nika manka.
[Canto 71]
1. Three-winds-sun Shaka (1253 = 1331 A.D.) had been the beginning
of his worship's taking into his lap all the burden of the whole
world.
He died in that Shaka-year tastes-bodies-sun (1286 = 1364 A.D.).
Distressed were the Princes, dejected, mournful.
Verily in Their sublimity of mind they were not covetous, loving
the universal world.
Minding the state of existence (on earth), that it is inconstant, punya
(good works) only was [what was] had at heart every day.
2. Concerning [at] the Princes' conference: our lord, the honoured
Prabhu's Fathers, two, These were assembled (there).
Our lord's Mothers the honoured two, unseparated, and the Prince's
younger sisters too, both; the honoured consorts followed (them).
They discussed the honoured one who might know all virtues and
sins of the Royal servants, to take the place of the honoured apatih
(grand-vizir).
It was talked about at great length; no one [there was who] was
taken delight in [in their hearts], which aroused sadness, stinging.
3. The Princes held the policy that not to be replaced was, precisely,
the sumantri apatih (eminent mandarin grand-vizir).
In the absence of anybody who could take his place, when there
were made difficulties, then the world there (outside) was to be
ignored.
Only [the] amatyas (well-born people), virtuous, having to tell all
concerns regularly to the Princes, were to be chosen.
They were to be trusted in reporting on ways and means (expedient)
for seeing into common dissensions, without erring.
[Canto 72]
1. So, at the end of Their conference, secret,
the essence of Their deliberation, showing discernment, was:
as werddhamantri (senior mandarin) was chosen now the honoured
arya (Honourable)
Atmaraja, having for name pu (Sir) Tanding.
2. Unseparated: the companion of the Princes the honoured arya
(Honourable)
Wira Mandalika, named pu (Sir) Nala,
(both) to the virtuous and the unvirtuous, in (bringing) good things
and in repression, clever,
as mancanagara (territorial authority), bearing the name Tumenggung.
3. A scion of the eminently virtuous, manful, most faithful (is he),
everlastingly chief of the Royal servants on expeditions.
So (the people of) other countries, by name Dompo,
were exterminated by Him in crowds; he inflicts losses upon the
enemies.
4. Two, now, are the concerns of the honoured excellent sumantris
(eminent mandarins) :
(to be) our lord's hands and feet is the purpose, nothing else,
(and) to bring in all difficulties of affairs.
Then, they shall have for company sumantris upapattis (eminent
mandarins assessors).
5. The honoured patih (vizir) Dami now is that yuwamantri (junior
mandarin),
the honoured one called rakryan (Right Honourable) in the Interior
of the Royal compound, unseparated
with patih (vizir) Tihang bearing the name pu (Sir) Singha,
to be a witness of all the Princes' commissions.
6. In this manner was (established) the Princes' order.
The delight was lasting, consolidated was the world then.
Faithfulness and submissiveness the more increased.
Our lord's mastership is the cause of it in this manner.
