HOSPITALLER SOURCES 1451

30 January, 1451
The Hospitaller Convent of Rhodes makes known that it has borrowed from Master Fr Jean de Lastic and received by the hands of his Seneschall Fr Guillaume de Lastic 1710 duc. Rhodesian currency; this money was used to pay back a loan by the civil judge at the curia of Rhodes, Giovanni Rocundo, and the interest rates, due after 14 months, for which several valuables in gold and silver from the sacristy of the Order were set in pawn; considering the poverty of the treasury, the Master paid for this loan but receives in turn security from the properties of the Order.

15 March, 1451
Master Fr Jean de Lastic to Fr Giacomo de Acciaioli Conservator General of the Treasury and Preceptor of Prato: grants him additionally the Preceptory S. Sepolchro in Firenze vacant by the death of Fr Bartolomeo de Caniçanis.

20 March, 1451
Note concerning an assembly of the "French" tongue under the locumtenens of the hospitaller, Fr. Jean de Domagne, in which the ancianitas of Fr. Antoine de Damas is confirmed; notes concerning an extract for the brother, the lettera executoria and the licence to leave Rhodes.

11 May, 1451
Because of the consequences of endless wars, Pope Nicolaus V grants an indulgence to the King of France, his nobles and subjects and especially to the Hospitallers, following the regulations for the Jubilee of 1450.

7 June, 1451
Pope Nicolaus V grants an indulgence to the Hospitallers.

Fr. Master Fr. Jean de Lastic and the Convent confirm the Latin translation dated 7 May, 1450, of a German charter dated 9 February, 1449 by Fr. Johannes L”ösel prior partium Alamanie generalis, together with fratres [...] Johannes de Swalbach balivus et commendator Coloniensis, [...] Berchtoldus Stechelly in Friburgo Brisgaudie, [...] Philippus de Riffenberg in Rüdikheim [...] commendatores. 22 October, 1451
Declaration of Master Fr. Jean de Lastic and Council concerning the agreement on the incomes of the Draper - 500 Aragonese fl. for lifetime - with Fr. Esbert de Villamari concerning the preceptory de Novilles which Fr. Esbert has resigned. Fr. Esbert remains responsible for the payment though half comes from the Castellan of Amposta and half from the preceptor de Novilles.
