*TS1190.00.00 - [about 1190], s.l. - The preceptor of the Templars in the bailiwick of Arville, P. de Bevilla, to the prior of Beaulieu: makes known that the Templars will care for the payment for the land at Longboel which Nicholaus harbinger sold to him, if they want to pay. Since they have no secure seal in France, he asks him to pay Nicholaus the money safely, the Templars will guarantee the transfer of the land. When the Templars have a secure seal in France, they will send a letter by the French master, when wife and children [of Nicholaus] have given their consent. TS1190.01.11 - 11 January, [1190], Rome, St. Peter [sic]. - Pope Clement III to all nobles [nobilibus viris baronibus]: informs them that the Templars are heavily under pressure by the enemies of Christ and recently lost their master [Gerard] and twenty brethren, as he learned from the letter of Patriarch [Heraklius] of Jerusalem and other princes, and that the Templars also lost much of their materials. Orders with the promise to reduce the punishments for their sins not to hinder the order to sell their immobile and mobile possessions to meet their needs or to find the necessary monies otherwise. - Inc. TS1190.04.13 - 13 April, [1190], Rome, Lateran. - Pope Clement III to all archbishops, bishops, abbots, princes and all other believers: confirms the measures which Archbishop Arnaldus of Narbonne took with the counsel of the late count A[lfons] of Toulouse, of count Hu[go] von Rodez, of viscount Roger of Béziers and other great men in their territories in favour of the Templars concerning cattle and agriculture. These measures have lately been confirmed by Archbishop [Peter] of Arles with his suffragans and bishop G[odfrey] of Béziers with the consent of King A[lfonso] of Aragón, Count R[aymond] of Toulouse, Count [William] of Forcalquier and lord Barolus of Marseille. The pope orders to employ able persons to collect the dues for the Templars, demands support for the order like Innocent [II.]. TS1190.08.30 - 30 August, [1190], Rome,Lateran. - Pope Lucius III to all archbishops, bishops, abbots, priors, and other ecclesiastical prelates: informs them about the dreadful defeat of the Templars in the Holy Land; orders to punish those who act violently against the order, take their properties, and keep them from their inheritances. The perpetrators shall be excommunicated, until they have given compensation, without the possibility to appeal. Those under anathema because of their violent behaviour can only be absolved if they present letters of their bishops to the apostolic see. Inc. Non absque dolore cordis. (Dijon, Archives dép.
