The king and Matthew Janyn a Lombard, who has lent him 4.000 marks in his great need, delivering the same to the treasurer and the chamberlains of the exchequer. Indenture covenanting to pay him in full 2.000 marks and the surplus of the tally he has released to the king; [... but] the prior, his successors or the order (la religion) of St. John shall not be compelled etc., nor shall the order be troubled or suffer hurt [...].
