Master Fr. Juan Fernández de Herédia excommunicates Fr. Sancho Martínez de Heredia, prior of Castile, for not paying the sum of 3000 fl., of which 2000 fl. were due for responsions and 1000 fl. from the indulgences for Smyrna. 18 April, 1393. Avignon.
Master Fr. Juan Fernández de Herédia to the prior of St. Gilles: informs him about the negotations on Smyrna with Bayezid which failed because there was no agreement on the Turkish fugitives to Smyrna and Rhodes. Orders to hold a provincial chapter to which the order 's officials shall bring their responsions and other payments due to the Convent at Rhodes. Master Fr. Juan Fernández de Herédia reminds the prior of St. Gilles, Fr. Raymond de Casilhac, on the situation in the Levant and on the chapter (to be held on 20 July), to which also the responsions and other monies due have to be brought. Furthermore, he orders six knights to be sent to the East (quatuor de ultra Rodanum et duos de citra Rodanum) and fixes 31 July as the day of departure. Master Fr. Juan Fernández de Herédia to Fr. Francisco Chamarte, the Castellan of Amposta: orders to collect the monies ex indulgenciis apostolicis pro civitate Smirnarum in his territory and in Aragón and nominates the receivers. Master Fr. Juan Fernández de Herédia and the chapter order extraordinary dues for the priories remaining loyal to them, a sum of 20.500 fl. to be paid during the next four years. Master Fr. Juan Fernández de Herédia and the chapter demands from Rhodes, Cyprus, and Kos together the sum of 3.000 fl. for each of the next three years for the activities of the order in the Levant and for Smyrna.
