The Sejarah Melayu

The Sejarah Melayu or Malay Annals describe(s) the history of the Sultanate of Malacca in the 15th and 16th century. It was probably written after the loss of Malacca to the Portuguese in 1511 and finished before 1528 or 1536, but was revised in 1612 by an order of the Sultan of Johor, Abdullah Mu'ayat Syah, whose ancestors had come from the Sultanate of Malacca. It is only in this revised form that the text survives. It offers not only important informations on the Malay Peninsula, but also on Sumatra and Java.

At the moment, this website presents only the early translation made by John Leyden and published after his death by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles:
Malay Annals [Sejarah Melayu], translated from the Malay language by John Leyden, introduction by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown 1821.
