Whereas Walter Grendon, prior of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England, in 11 Henry IV sued an assize of fresh force before John Lane and William Chichele, then sheriffs of London, according to the custom of the city against Reginald Curteys, esquire, William Crowemer, citizen and 'draper' of London, Henry Merston, clerk, and Robert Barbot, complaining that he was disseised of 40s. rent from a messuage in the parish of St. Laurence Pulteney London, of which they were tenants in fee [...], the prior was told to sue before the said king for licence to proceed in the assize [...].
