HOSPITALLER SOURCES 1410

12 May, 1410. Aix-en-Provence.
The three lieutenants of master Fr. Philibert de Naillac, residing at the chapter general in Aix-en-Provence, give confirmation of his position to fratri Johanni Cruze baiulo seu preceptori baiulie seu preceptorie Westphale. [The three lieutenants of the master are also to be found on another chapter general in the West, at Rome in 1446. - It may be questioned how far the area of the bailiwick Westphalia extended. Did the houses in Burgsteinfurt, East-Frisia and Groningen fall under its command as well?] (NLM Arch. 336, fol. 142v, register = liber bullarum 1410 / J. M. van Winter, Sources concerning the Hospitallers of St. John in the Netherlands, 1998, Bulls and Letters, n. 10)
